Ultrasound: Why It’s Important

The pregnancy test came back positive. Now what? If you are considering abortion, you may want to start by scheduling an ultrasound. Here’s why ultrasounds are so important:

1) An ultrasound can confirm that a pregnancy is viable. If the pregnancy is not viable, a miscarriage may have occured or the pregnancy may be ectopic. Additional medical care may be necessary.
2) An ultrasound can determine how far along you are. The number of days since your LMP (Last Menstrual Period), will impact what type of abortion procedures are available to you.
3) In the state of Georgia, an ultrasound is legally required before an abortion procedure.

The Women’s Clinic of Atlanta provides medical grade pregnancy testing and ultrasounds (to qualifying patients) at no cost. If you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and are unsure of your next step, call or text to make an appointment today.
